I first made this recipe on National Pizza Day, totally not planned! It was a hit!
Family friendly with all the tastes of a meat lovers pizza!
1 lb ground turkey 93% 1 tbsp avocado oil
20 slices pepperoni (about 1 cup), sliced in half
28 oz marinara sauce
1 teaspoon minced garlic
¼ cup minced onion
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried basil
½ teaspoon garlic salt
2 tablespoons nutritional yeast (can sub grated parmesan cheese)
½ teaspoon red pepper flakes ( more or less for heat preference)
½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
¼ shredded parmesan cheese
1 lb pasta, cooked
2 medium zucchini, made into zoodles (optional)
Heat a large deep skillet over medium heat and add avocado oil and ground turkey, cook and crumble ground turkey until cooked through.
Add minced onion and garlic to ground turkey and cook for 3-4 minutes.
Add marinara sauce, spices, nutritional yeast and sliced pepperoni to turkey and stir well to combine. Turn down heat to low and simmer while you cook the pasta.
Cook pasta as directed and drain
Add cheeses to meat sauce and stir to combine
Optional zoodles: Heat a large skillet over medium heat, add 1 teaspoon of avocado oil and then add zoodles, saute for about 4-5 minutes to heat through.
